Episode 29: The Killer Mom (Julie Schenecker – Part 1)
Julie Schenecker had it all – the professional working husband (Army Colonel Parker Schenecker), the perfect teenage kids (Calyx, 16, and Beau, 13), the large house in an upper middle class neighborhood, and the minivan. She was a carpool mom, she was her kids chauffeur, and there was always a parent in the stands for her kids’ sporting events.
But behind the facade, Julie, an Army veteran, was a ticking time bomb with many mental health issues and an alcohol problem. She didn’t appreciate her teenage daughter’s “mean girl” personality nor her teenage son following in his big sister’s footsteps.
So, in January 2011, Julie, decided to silence her kids forever in the most unthinkable way – by killing them. Join me as I take you through the initial coverage of the case, through to her jailhouse interview a year after her murder trial.
