Episode 33: The Murder of Barry Winchell (Part 2)
In Episode 32, I brought you right up to the courtyard fight between Barry Winchell and Calvin Glover. In Part 2, I will take you through the remainder of the 4th of the July weekend, Barry’s tragic murder, and the aftermath that ensued. Barry’s parents became huge advocates for the repeal of the military’s Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy.
President Obama signed the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell on September 20, 2011, over 17 years after it was signed into law. It is said that more people were separated from the military during this 17 year period, usually as a result of a witch hunt, than had ever been discharged prior to DADT for homosexuality.
Thankfully, anyone who was discharged solely for homosexuality can apply to have their military records corrected.
Dig in with Margot as she brings you the conclusion of the murder of Barry Winchell.
